NEWSFLASH: Deadline for Comments - Proposed Amendments to the Poultry Meat Regulations

The South African Department of Agriculture has published a Draft Amendment to the Regulations Regarding the Control over the Sale of Poultry Meat and is seeking industry input on proposed changes which, if they come into effect, would require “free-range” and other production method claims to comply with an applicable registered Management Control System (MCS), rather than the criteria currently contained in the Poultry Meat Regulations.

Industry stakeholders are invited to comment on the proposed amendments by 18 October 2026. Please contact us if you would like further information or require assistance in preparing and submitting comments before the deadline.

KISCH IP is assisting clients in assessing the impact of the proposed amendments on their poultry product labelling and marketing practices, identifying potential compliance risks, and preparing submissions in response to the proposed regulatory changes. For more information or assistance with commenting on the Draft Amendment Regulations before the 18 October 2026 deadline, please contact us at marketing@kisch-ip.com.
