Social responsibility is an integral part of our culture with members of our firm committed to numerous projects and initiatives throughout each year.
Our social upliftment programme is varied, bringing assistance and focus to those that need it most. These include both the underprivileged as well as the environment. We offer diverse help to a number of initiatives, from the underprivileged to animals in need and the environment. One of our annual projects is the Rhodes Trail Run, an epic endurance trail race that was founded by one of our former Chairmen, Reinard le Roux, one of our former partners, Brian Wimpey and a couple of their friends. In addition to sponsoring and supporting the actual race, we engage in a number of social upliftment projects in the community in an effort to improve their living conditions and schooling facilities. Another initiative we support is the “Santa Shoebox Project” to which members of the public contribute by way of making up gift boxes with specified toiletries, toys, educational supplies and clothing, which are distributed to underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia. We encourage all staff members to participate in an effort to truly make a difference to those that need it most.
KISCH IP has recently become involved in an ongoing project in the Ficksburg area, renovating and refurbishing a local school. Each year a team of KISCH IP staff offer up their time to assist and give back to this underprivileged community.
KISCH IP also regularly makes monetary contributions to NGO’s which include the elderly, disadvantaged and/or disabled children.
In addition to our broad list of initiatives, some listed above, we are also proud to help charities and non-profit organisations in protecting and registering their IP rights on a pro bono basis. We also assist with company and tax registrations enabling them to solicit donor funding.
Within our own work environment, we are committed to offsetting our carbon footprint where possible and have subsequently introduced a paper recycling programme as well as general daily recycling. Other ways we endeavour to make a difference is, for example, by installing motion sensor lighting so as to minimize electricity waste.
