On 18 July 2025, the Zanzibar IP Office announced the implementation of increased official fees, set to take effect from 11 August 2025. These revised fees will apply retrospectively to both new and pending applications, where official fees remain outstanding on or after this date. Additionally, the new Regulations introduce new official fees, including those for “associations” and “hearing opposition proceedings,” among others.

We strongly encourage our clients to review their current IP strategies in Zanzibar, particularly with regard to any upcoming new applications, change recordals, or renewals. To avoid the higher fees, it is essential that relevant official fees be settled before 11 August 2025.
