Masi Mtshali obtained his LL.B degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is a member of the Legal Practice Council, the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law and the International Trademark Association.
Masi has experience in general litigation, trade mark prosecution, trade mark infringement and copyright infringement. His focus is now on anti-counterfeiting where he is responsible for arranging and delivering brand identification training seminars to Customs and Police authorities. Masi also arranges and participates in search and seizure operations in defence of his clients’ intellectual property rights in various African countries including Benin, Botswana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Such initiatives are usually followed up by rigorous civil and criminal litigation in relation to anti-counterfeiting.
Masi authors articles relating to the latest developments with regard to anti-counterfeiting and is also often invited on national radio stations to comment on this topic.
