Lisa McIlwaine-Hill

Background

Lisa McIlwaine-Hill is a graduate of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (formally University of Port Elizabeth), South Africa. She obtained a BJuris in 1994 and an LLB in 1998. She was admitted as a South African attorney in 2000 and is a member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces.

Today, Lisa is a Director and Head of the International Trade Mark Department at KISCH IP. She is also a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and an INTA Country Guides contributor.

Lisa has over 17 years’ experience at KISCH IP in trademark law and practice throughout Africa. Despite efforts to harmonise trade mark laws in each

African country, these do differ from country to country meaning enforcement strategies also have to differ from country to country.

There is merit in consulting with trademark practitioners, such as Lisa, who are familiar with trademark laws and practice across the African continent.

KISCH IP is well positioned as a centralised hub assisting clients with trademark matters in all African countries, from searching, filings and change recordals to strategic planning particular to a specific African region – and, of course, enforcement of trademark rights across Africa.
