Angola is a party to the Paris Convention for Protection of Industrial Property. It is possible to claim priority under the Paris Convention.

Convention priority may be claimed through the Paris Convention.

A design is claimed for any shape or form that may be associated with lines or colours and is used in the manufacture of an industrial or handcrafted article.

Classification is done according to the Locarno International Classification of Designs.

Absolute novelty.

No grace period applicable.

Only formal examination is conducted.

A registered design has a duration of 15 years from the filing date, and is registered for a first period of 5 years and is extendible for another two 5-year periods.

A registered design must be worked within 1 year of registration, otherwise, the registration will lapse.
